Bruce E. Harlos

October 26, 1953 — October 29, 2015

Bruce Everett Harlos, 62 of La Crescent, MN, peacefully passed away at home on Thursday, October 29, 2015 following a courageous battle with kidney cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and loyal dog "Millie".
Bruce was born in La Crosse, WI on October 26, 1953 to Everett H. and Joann P. (Mossholder) Harlos. On September 4, 1976, he married the love of his life Pamala E. Mormann in La Crescent. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Jamie Harlos of Milwaukee, WI and Melissa (Brandon) McMann of Winona, MN, his mother Joann Harlos of La Crescent, two sisters Dixie (Steve) Bonk of Deltona, FL, and Effie Gilles of Onalaska, WI, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Everett, his brother Mike, a sister in-law Joanne, his beloved grandparents, and his father and mother in-law Gerald and Margaret Mormann.
In 1972 he graduated from La Crescent High School and enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany and honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1975. During his 28 years of service at Trane Company, he worked as a welder in Plant 4 & 7.
Bruce was a strong, quiet man. He blessed our lives with his gentle soul and playful personality. Motorcycles, music, fishing, hunting, camping, animals, and the Minnesota Vikings were his passions. Over the last few years, our family campground provided him with a sanctuary to enjoy time with family and to tinker. We will all miss him dearly.
Memorial services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the La Crescent United Methodist Church. Pastor Greg Nelson will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the Gitten-Leidel American Legion Post 595 La Crescent. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church Wednesday morning from 8:30am until the time of services.
