Mary Ellen Goetting

Mary Ellen Goetting, 88, of La Crosse, died on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Hillview Health Care Center. She was born on March 21, 1927 in Money Creek Township, MN to Raymond and Edna (Goodrich) Durnen. She married Glen W. Goetting on May 9, 1945 in St. John’s Catholic Church, Winona. He preceded her in death in 1989. Mary had volunteered for 14 years in the kitchen at Sauber Manor in La Crosse. Mary was a wonderful mother and grandmother and her family was her whole life.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane Pierce of Onalaska, Susan Goetting, and Christine (Dale) Henry of De Soto, WI, two sons, Lynn (Mitsuko) Goetting of Coon Rapids, MN and Marty (Deidre) Goetting of Caledonia, MN, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sisters and brothers, Doris Boltz, Rosemary Sampsell, Darlene Kulas, Barbara Barak, Sharon Singer, Jane Newmann, Roy Goodrich, Raymond Durnen and Patrick Durnen, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three sons, Kevin, Monte and Aaron, a daughter Colleen, a brother John Durnen and a sister Cecelia Dennis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Marian Chapel of the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman. Msgr. Charles Stoetzel will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Dakota, MN. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of services.
