John “Jack” Monroe Beckwith, 83, of La Crosse died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at his home after a brief illness. He was born May 2, 1932 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and grew up in New York State. He graduated from Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York in 1950 and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Denver in 1954. Following graduation, he served in the Army at Fort Bragg from 1955-1956.
In 1965, Jack married Janet Grube and had two children, Scott and Amy. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Jack was employed by UW-L as a purchasing agent for twenty years before retiring in 1994. Following retirement, Jack and his wife traveled extensively.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Edna, as well as his siblings, Gloria and Andrew. He is survived by his wife, children, 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father.
The family would like to thank the Gunderson Health Hospice team as well as many friends who have offered their support and assistance. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to WAFER, Salvation Army or First Presbyterian Church.
Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 233 West Avenue South, La Crosse on Saturday, October 17. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 with a memorial service following.
