Lynn Howard Blakeley

Lynn Howard Blakeley, 88 of La Crosse, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Brookdale Assisted Living Center of La Crosse. He was born in Eau Claire, WI, on December 1, 1926 to Price and Marian (Melville) Blakeley. Lynn grew up on the family farm before enlisting at the age of seventeen in the United States Navy where he served as an airman during World War II. Following his service, he returned and married Donna Mae Roesler of Fall Creek, WI, and they had four children.
Lynn worked for Dolly Madison Dairy and was the manager of the Reedsburg operation. Lynn changed jobs in the 1960’s and began working for Gateway Foods of La Crosse where he worked his way up to head buyer of groceries before retiring . Lynn and Donna raised their children with a strong family emphasis on travel spending just about every weekend on the rivers and in the woods of Wisconsin.
Lynn is survived by his children Lynda (Kevin) Koehn, Jeff (Lynn) Blakeley, Scott (Hollie) Blakeley, Craig (Julie) Blakeley; grandchildren Anna (Matt) Forrest, Bryan (Agnes) Koehn, Tony (Julie) Koehn, Michelle Koehn, Jason Koehn, Sarah (Charlie) Sheffer, Katie (Neil) Olsen, Joshua Blakeley, Emily Blakeley, Zachary (Alyssa) Blakeley, Alexander Blakeley and Amelia Blakeley and thirteen great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Everett Blakeley and sister in law Dorothy (Layton) Blakeley. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna, his daughter in law Roxanne, brothers Layton and Robert and one sister Florence Fraze.
Funeral services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Shepherd of The Hills Lutheran Church in Onalaska. Pastor Donald Stein will officiate. Burial with military rites by American Legion Post 53 will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire. Friends and family may call on the family at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services Onalaska chapel; 907 Sand Lake Rd. on Tuesday evening from 5 until 7pm and again at the church on Wednesday from 9am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army.
