Richard A. Potaracke, 76, of La Crosse died on September 23, 2015. He was born on June 3, 1939 in La Crosse to George J. and Viola Helen (Klhujeski) Potaracke. His early years were spent growing up on a farm north of Grandad Bluff in La Crosse. He attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic elementary school and Aquinas High School. He was an avid sketcher as a young man and belonged to a male quartet singing group while at Aquinas. He loved the outdoors including bow hunting. Following high school graduation, he joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma for years. After his years in the military he returned to La Crosse to work and live the rest of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Jeanette A. Aafedt and Geraldine A. "Gerry" (Moore), and brothers Robert W., Kenneth J. Potaracke.
He is survived by sisters, Patricia Frommelt, Paulette (Les) Brown, Barbara (Bill) Rudy, and brothers Carl (Carole) and George. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their spouses.
Richard was cremated with burial to take place at a later date. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse is in charge of arrangements.
