Donna J. Taylor 82 of La Crescent, died on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Valley View Healthcare and Rehab center in Houston, MN. She was born in La Crosse, WI, on January 3, 1933 to Erwin and Leona (Christopher) Limpert. In 1955 she married Stanton E. “Stan” Taylor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in La Crosse.
Donna worked at the La Crosse Tribune for many years in the Personnel Department until her retirement in 1982. Volunteering was an important part of Donna’s life. She was an active member of Prince Of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent where she had taught Sunday School, a member of the Gittens Liedel American Legion Post 595 Women’s Auxillary and a Girl Scout and Brownie Volunteer. Motorcycling with her husband Stan and their friends was also a favorite pastime.
Donna is survived by her daughter Leisa (Charlie) Rogers of Prior Lake, MN, three grandchildren; Brandon (Katie) Harris, Chad Rogers, Brittany (Teddy) Paterson and one great granddaughter Lyla Harris. She is further survived by three sisters; Marilyn (Russ) Wolden of La Crosse, Geri Schams of Lilydale, MN, Helen Fritz of Tomahawk, WI; four nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Stan in 2013.
The family would like to thank the staff at Gundersen Medical Center Hospice and the care providers at Valley View Healthcare and Rehab in Houston for their tender care of Donna.
Memorial services will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crescent chapel; 111 So. Oak St. Pastor Michael Woods will officiate. Private family burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call on the family Saturday morning from 10am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Gundersen Medical Center Hospice program or the Valley View Healthcare and Rehab Center.
