Joyce Elizabeth Poellinger

Joyce Elizabeth Poellinger, 90 of La Crosse and formerly of Onalaska, died on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. She was born in Onalaska on August 21, 1925 to George and Mathilda (Betz) Prieur. She attended Onalaska High School and on January 7, 1945 she married Donald “Butch” Poellinger at St. John’s Catholic Church in La Crosse. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2001. Joyce had volunteered for 27 years at Roosevelt Elementary School. She had also volunteered with Mobil Meals, St. John’s Catholic Church, and the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles and spending time with her friends in the card club.
She is survived by her two sons, Donald (Cindy) Poellinger of Onalaska, Daniel (Debra) Poellinger of Hastings, MN, one daughter Ann (Dana) Hanson of Apple Valley MN, five grandchildren; Michael (Kathy) Poellinger, Daniel (Jackie) Poellinger, Lance (Kristin) Poellinger, Amber (Matt) Barnes, Lynsey Poellinger, two step grandchildren Tracy (Lee) Rogers and Chad Perry, eleven great grandchildren; Colten, Bailey, Corey, Lucas, Kira, McKayla, Waylon, Emie, Riley, Dillon and Caleb. She is further survived by one brother Richard (Mary) Prieur and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband Butch, Joyce was preceded in death by her sisters Arietta Kempter, LaVonne Williams, Delphine Johnson, Mona Priebe and her infant sister Jacquline Prieur. She was further preceded by her brothers Cletus “Gene” Prieur, Bud Prieur, Ramon Prieur and Robert Prieur.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at St. James The Less Catholic Church, La Crosse. Monsignor Charles Stoetzel will officiate. Entombment will follow in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum at the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call on the family Wednesday evening from 5 until 7pm at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home La Crosse; 200 West Ave. So.,where a prayer service will be held at 6:30pm. Visitiation will also be held on Thursday morning at the church from 9 am until the time of services.
