Elaine B. (Bashaw) Grossbach, 78, of La Crosse, died on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System, La Crosse surrounded by her family.
Elaine was born in Holmen, Wi, on August 20, 1937 to Harold and Leona (Puent) Bashaw. On November 29, 1958 she married Gerald C. Grossbach. They were blessed with 57 years of marriage, 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Elaine is survived by her loving husband Gerald; children: Cathey (John) Schroeder, Carla (Phil) Easterday, Timothy (Lisa) Grossbach and Terrence (Beth) Grossbach; 8 grandchildren: Robert (Lauren Petersen) Schroeder, Christopher Schroeder, Philip and Erika Gleason, Lexi Grossbach and Allyson, Scott and Madelynn Grossbach; 2 great grandchildren, Noah Schroeder and Aubrey Schroeder. She is further survived by 2 sisters: Evelyn Kramer and Susan Gallagher, 3 brothers: John (Lois) Bashaw, Tom (MaryAnn) Bashaw and Peter Bashaw; 2 sister in-laws Grace Bashaw and Kathleen McConnell; a very special friend, Renee Druliner and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Leona Bashaw, one sister Sister Barbara Bashaw, O.S.B.; 3 brothers Robert, Paul and Daniel Bashaw; 2 sisters in-law Pam Bashaw and Elizabeth Von, 2 brothers in-law Clarence Kramer and Gerald McConnell and her grandson Keith Gleason.
Elaine graduated from Aquinas High School in 1955. She worked at Western Technical College and also earned her degree in Supervisory Management. She retired in 2002.
Elaine loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports and was also a big fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed golfing and started the “Monday Night Working Women’s Golf League” at Hillview Golf Course where she landed a “Hole-in-One”! She also enjoyed reading and bowling. She was excellent at sewing, knitting, crochet, counted cross stitch, ceramics and gardening. Her biggest pleasure was spending time with her family and friends. She loved having her children and grandchildren come over. Elaine will be most remembered for her love of family, her selfless giving, her words of wisdom, her strength and her joy of life. She is loved by all and will truly be missed.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Mary Mother Of The Church Parish, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse. Very Rev. Monsignor Delbert Malin will officiate. Burial will take place in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park, town of Shelby. Friends may call on the family Tuesday evening from 4 until 7pm at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home; 200 West Ave. South where a rosary will be recited at 6pm. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday at the church from 9:30am until the time of services.
