Harold W. Zibrowski

Harold William Zibrowski, surrounded by his loving family, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Friday, August 21, 2015. He was born in Caledonia, Minn., on June 22, 1924, to Arthur and Edna (Russert) Zibrowski.
Harold enlisted in the United States Army in November of 1944 and served in the Pacific Campaign. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with one bronze battle star, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze battle star, the Army of Occupation Medal, the Japan Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his service. He was also a member of Gittens-Leidel American Legion Post 595 of La Crescent.
Harold married Phyllis Zumach in 1948 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Caledonia, Minn., and together they had nine children. He was employed at Haefs Construction in La Crescent, Fiberite in Winona, and as a custodian at the Dresbach rest area, all while working the family farm.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis, in 2013; his parents, Edna and Arthur; three brothers, Wilford, Ronald, and Norman; a sister, Mae Odette, and two great grandchildren, Dawson Skifton and Nora Jean Meyer.
Harold is survived by his nine children, Clara and Jeff Post of Houston, Minn., Lucille and Norman Lemke of Caledonia, Minn., James and Jeanne Zibrowski of La Crescent, Edie and Clark Bean of Crofton, Md., Joseph and Penny Zibrowski of Leesburg, Va., Paul and Kathleen Zibrowski of Champlin, Minn., Andrew and Mandy Zibrowski of Cook, Minn., Beth and James Schueler of Peterson, Minn., and Peter and Sue Zibrowski of Soldiers Grove, Wis.; thirty-two grandchildren, fifty-one great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild. He is further survived by a sister, Delores Yanzer; four brothers, Leland (Carol) Zibrowski, Leslie (Janet) Zibrowski, Richard (Maureen) Zibrowski, and Henry (Sharon) Zibrowski; a sister-in-law, Cecelia Horn; a brother-in-law, Gregory (Carol) Zumach; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 26th, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hokah. Rev. Pratap Reddy Salibindla will officiate. Military honors will be conducted immediately following the funeral mass with burial taking place at a later date in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Hokah. Family and friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church, with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., and also from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s Church and School.
