Jean (Zirbes) Robertson died Friday, August 14, at her home in Onalaska. She was born August 1, 1932, to Raymond and Marie (Peikert) Zirbes. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School in La Crosse, graduated from Aquinas High School in 1950 and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Wausau in 1954. On October 19, 1957, she married Charles Robertson at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in La Crosse. She served as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital, Skemp Clinic, Lutheran Hospital, Oak Forest Nursing Home and Hillview Nursing Home until retiring in 1993.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; her five children - Dan Robertson, Diane (Lance) Kunde, Dale Robertson, Karen Mueller, and the Rev. Father Douglas Robertson; her seven grandchildren - Samantha and Eli Robertson; Sarah Jean, Jordan, and Matthew Kunde; and Joshua and Stefanie Mueller; her brother Joe Zirbes; her twin brother, Jack (Delores) Zirbes; her nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Patricia Zirbes; her brother Jim Zirbes; and her brother-in-law, Warren Robertson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 21, at 10:00 a.m. in the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman with the Very Rev. Msgr. Charles D. Stoetzel presiding. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Schumacher - Kish Funeral Home in La Crosse on Thursday beginning with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and concluding at 7:00 p.m.
