Flora A. Albrecht, 94, of La Crescent, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at the Golden Living Center in La Crescent.
She was born May 23, 1921, on South Ridge in rural Houston County, Minnesota, to Edward and Anna (Kinstler) Harlos. She married Kenneth L. Albrecht on April 29, 1942, at her family home. They farmed in New Hartford Township in rural Winona County for many years before moving to La Crescent in 1997. Kenneth preceded Flora in death on March 24, 2009.
Flora was a loving wife and a devoted mother who was always there when needed for her daughter, Barb. She was an accomplished seamstress and a wonderful homemaker and cook. There was seldom a meal where there wasn’t a welcome guest at the dinner table. In her free time, Flora enjoyed collecting dolls, sewing, baking, reading, doing puzzles, and she loved to sketch. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling, with one of her favorite travels being her trip to Mackinaw Island.
Flora was a long-time member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Nodine where she was active in Ladies Aid and assisted with Vacation Bible School.
Flora is survived by her daughter, Barb (Bob) Cibulka, of La Crescent; two grandchildren, Joel Lafky, who lives in North Carolina, and Jodi (Chad) Hanson, of Denver, Colo.; two step-grandchildren, Steve and Mike Cibulka; and a great grandson, Owen Robert Lafky-Allen. She is further survived by a sister, Dora Albrecht of La Crescent and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Kenneth, she was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers-in-law, Walter and Herbert Albrecht; and a sister-in-law, Arvilla Albrecht.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 15th, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Nodine. Pastor Dennis Harbach will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Nodine. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
Flora’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Golden Living Center, especially to Marsha, LuAnn, Tyler and Dayelle, and Dr. Peter Franta for their excellent care and also to Pastor Harbach and Pastor Mumm for their many visits.
