Paul N Christopherson

Paul N. Christopherson, 89 of Onalaska, died on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. He was born July 15, 1926 in Onalaska, WI to Emil and Marie (Otto) Christopherson and graduated from Onalaska High School. In April of 1944 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country during WWII participating in both Iwo Jima and the Volcano Islands. He was honorably discharged in July of 1946.
On February 18, 1950 he married Lois Bryngelson in Dallas, WI and she preceded him in death on November 5, 2013 after 63 years of marriage. For seven years Paul and Lois owned and operated Christy’s Market on the north side of La Crosse while Paul worked as a delivery driver and salesman for A.J. Sweet’s Frozen Food and Produce Co. of La Crosse for over 20 years. During his retirement he continued to drive for various companies in the La Crosse area. Paul enjoyed garaging and hunting for treasurers especially seeking crocks. On May 2, 2015 Paul participated in the Freedom Honor Flight to Washington D.C. with his son, Terry.
Paul is survived by daughters; Carol (David) Porath and Lisa (Robert) Richardson; sons, Terry (Teresa Tanke) Christopherson, James (Marion Naegle) Christopherson and Jason (Sonja) Christopherson; grandchildren, Luke (Brooke) and Joel Christopherson, Melissa (Barry) Hewitt and Amanda (John) Bouteiller; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Cooper, Tucker and Chloe. In addition to his wife Lois, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jesse Harper.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 10th at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 907 Sand Lake Road, Onalaska with Rev. David Leistekow officiating. Military honors will follow the services and will be rendered by the Onalaska American Legion Post 336 and the Wisconsin State Military Honor Guard. Friends and family may call on Sunday at the funeral home from 4-6 P.M. and again on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
