Catherine L. (Dauve) Mikshowsky, 65, of St. Joseph Ridge, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 25, 2015 after a seven year battle with cancer. Catherine was born on December 29, 1949 at St. Anne’s Hospital in La Crosse, WI to Alf and Clara (Tomten) Dauve. She was baptized and confirmed at Coon Valley Lutheran Church. She graduated from Westby High School in 1968. Catherine married Douglas Mikshowsky on October 9, 1971. She had worked at First National Bank in La Crosse for seven years and then at Gateway Foods/Fleming for 26 years. Catherine enjoyed music and traveling. She was a wonderful gardener who did miracles with her outdoor flower gardens.
In addition to her husband Doug, of 44 years, Catherine is survived by her niece Amanda Jean Dauve (Rolf Dauve’s daughter), her in-laws Dale (Doris) Mikshowsky, Darlene (Frederick) Zitzner, Diane (Jim) Strupp and Jane (Russ) O’Neil, twelve nieces and nephews Bryan Mikshowsky, Lori Mikshowsky, Lynn (Kirk) Donskey, Lucy Mikroberts, Bill (Lyn) Zitzner, Joe (Ruth) Zitzner, Lisa (Randy) Staggemeyer, Ann Marie (Dave) Christianson, Sarah (Matt) Vetsch, Susie (Elliot) Wickstrom, Steve Strupp and Shari (Larry) Nelson, twenty-one great nieces and nephews Ellowyn and Kreedence Dauve, Madelyn, Kenny and Alexandre Mikshowsky, Taylor and Claire Donskey, Jarrel and Darius Mikroberts, Tony (Roxy) Zitzner, Kymberely Zitzner, Austin, Lexi and Alana Christianson, Dylan and Wesley Schultz, Matthew Zitzner, Ava and Alivia Wickstrom, Nikala and Josh Nelson, two step great nephews Logan and Levi Sheldon, one great-great niece Elora Zitzner. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Arlen, Rolf and Trygve.
Doug would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at Mayo Hospice for their hard work at trying to keep Catherine comfortable in her time of need, also to his brother and sisters and their girls for helping out with food and babysitting so he could get out once in a while.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Joseph Ridge. Rev. Tim Welles will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 4-7 PM, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM, and again on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Memorials may be given to Coon Valley Lutheran Church. The Schumacher – Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, La Crosse Chapel is assisting the family.
