Jean Anderson, 85, of La Crescent passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, WI.
Jean was born June 13, 1930 at Grandview Hospital in La Crosse to Arthur and Barbara (Huss) Todt. She attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Aquinas High School.
Jean met Donald Anderson in 1947 and they were married on October 29, 1949 in La Crosse. They eventually moved to La Crescent and raised a family. Together they enjoyed 56 years of marriage. They spent many years square dancing with the Coulee Region Promenaders, and traveled extensively around the US. They loved to camp in their trailer and were proud of the fact that they camped in every state except Hawaii, although they vacationed there as well.
Quilting was Jean’s passion and she made them for many of the people in her family. She was a member of Keepsake Quilters and sold her quilts as heirloom gifts to people on the east coast.
Jean worked as a bookkeeper for Northern States Power and Bob’s IGA, and after 23 years she retired as Asst. VP Cashier of La Crescent State Bank.
Jean was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by two children, daughter Nancy Braun, son Michael Anderson, two grandchildren, Joshua (Kathy) Anderson and Mandy Braun and two great grandchildren, Jaryn Anderson and Tyler Anderson.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Donald in 2006, her parents, two sisters Margaret Todt and Elizabeth Garder.
The family would like to send a special thank you to all the staff at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital Legacy 6th floor and to The Hearten House 1 Assisted Living Home. You are all very special people.
