Duane F. Sanborn

April 24, 1931 — July 14, 2015

Duane F. Sanborn, 84 of La Crosse, WI, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2015. He was born in Mankato, MN, on April 24, 1931 to John and Lydia Sanborn. Upon graduating from high school, he joined the army and served his country during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he attended the University of Minnesota graduating with honors in June of 1958 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He immediately went to work at the Trane Co. of La Crosse and retired in 1993. While there, he was awarded numerous patents.
He was a member of the Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530 La Crosse, the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52 La Crosse, the Korean War Veterans and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. In 1960 he married Beverly Lothen and they had three children. In addition to his wife Beverly, he is survived by his daughter Laura, sons John and David, brother in law Harvey Lothen, sisters in law Lilla Sanborn, Ruth Olene Lothen, Phyllis Lothen and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Warren, sisters Phyllis Yenish and Bernice Trautman, brothers in law Robert Lothen, Charles Yenish and Bob Trautman.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of La Crosse. Pastor Mark Jolivette will officiate. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call on the family at the church on Thursday morning from 10am until the time of services. Memorials may be given to Our Savior’s Lutheran church, the American Heart Association or the Donor’s choice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mayo Hospice for their caring services. Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation services of La Crosse is assisting the family.
