Gerald "Jerry" Dellenbach

Gerald J. “Jerry” Dellenbach, 90, of La Crosse, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.
He was born in La Crosse on December 24, 1924, to Fred H. and Josephine (Wargin) Dellenbach. He attended La Crosse schools and graduated from Logan High School in January of 1943. Upon graduation, Jerry enlisted in the United States Army in April of 1943 and served with the Army Air Force until December of 1945.
On March 16, 1946, Jerry married the former Harriet Aspenson. After 55 years of marriage, Harriet preceded him in death on February 16, 2001.
Jerry had been employed by Gateway Transportation in La Crosse for 35 years before retiring. He was a long-time member of Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52 of La Crosse. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, golfing, and playing cards with his friends at the Legion.
Jerry is survived by his three children, Steve (Debbie) Dellenbach of La Crosse, Mark (Jean) Dellenbach of Onalaska, and Janet (Allan) Schultz of La Crosse; six grandchildren, Jennifer Dellenbach of La Crosse, Ashley and Kelly Schultz, both of La Crosse, Joseph (Meghan) Dellenbach and Michelle (Matt) Loe, both of Woodbury, Minn., and Katherine Dellenbach of Madison, Wis.; five great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Harriet, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and Art Dellenbach.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 9th, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2135 Weston St., La Crosse. Rev. Bruce Iverson will officiate. Entombment of his urn, with military honors, will follow in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum in Woodlawn Cemetery, La Crosse. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.
