William was born in Davenport, Iowa on May 20, 1945. As a young man he was a hard worker, and adventurer. William married in 1965 and entered into military service in 1967. William served his country honorably through two wars, and was discharged with honors in 1974. ( National Defense service medal and the Good conduct medal with 1 loop) Williams greatest sorrow was the passing of his daughter before her life was truly begun, and the early loss of his son. His life was full of happiness however, in the joy of his longtime love, Jane, and the ever present love of his grandchildren.
In his twilight years, William was plagued with serious health issues, but never had to face them alone, and always had a home with many loving small hands to help him heal and get healthy again. He enjoyed taking long walks with his grandsons and throwing balls in the backyard with his granddaughter, and never tired of snuggling up with his grandchildren and watching movies, and silly cartoons.
He leaves behind many hearts who have been touched by his love and gentleness. His family will forever hold the memories of his smile and truly bad jokes forever in their hearts. Williams greatest gift to his children and grandchildren was to share not only his love, but his wisdom and time with them all as he grew old, and as they grew up. The memories that he shared will remain with them all as they grow into the young men and women that William was proud to have helped shape. Rest in peace Grandpa, you will be loved and missed.
