Holly enjoyed spending quiet time at home, watching movies, decorating the house for seasonal activities and listening to her music. She enjoyed spending time with her siblings and friends especially when it included activities that she won from playing her much loved radio contests. Her most notable radio contest achievement was winning two tickets to Super Bowl XXXI where she and Mike watched the Green Bay Packers defeat the New England Patriots in New Orleans. Holly also enjoyed trips with her two sisters to the Pioneer Inn, the Mall of America, Chicago and New York City. She enjoyed meals out with friends but especially lunches at her favorite restaurant Hunan. She also enjoyed trips with her husband Mike to visit their son Jeff in Chicago and New York City, as well as a special 60th birthday trip to London and Paris and several trips to San Diego. In recent years Holly’s greatest joy came from traveling to spend time with her son Jeff and his partner Hunter. She took numerous trips with them including three trips to New York City to attend Broadway shows; Florida to celebrate a birthday alongside her sister Linda and; a special trip to Southern California to spend time with their friends and her favorite little boy Cal.
Holly’s strong will and determination to return to a healthy life provided her over four years of time after her second diagnosis with cancer, far exceeding the expectation of any of her heath care providers.
Respecting Holly’s wishes, there will be no visitation, funeral or burial. Instead the family invites you to an informal gathering from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday June 10th at the Southside Neighborhood Center, 1300 6th St South, La Crosse Wisconsin. For all of Holly’s adult life, even more so in her final months, there was no meal she enjoyed more than having sweets for breakfast. For those attending her gathering, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so should bring their favorite donut, pastry or dessert, to enjoy with a good cup of coffee. Holly would have wanted it that way. Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel is assisting the family.
