Oliver W. Owen

Oliver W. Owen, 75 of La Crosse, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI, on September 20, 1939 to Andrew and Hattie (Merkle) Owen. He married Beverly J. Kopplen in Chaseburg, WI, on September 9, 1961. Oliver had proudly served his country with the United States Army. He loved fishing and watching the stock car races in West Salem.
In addition to his wife Bev, he is survived by his daughter Amy (Erich) Busse of Oshkosh, WI, three sons, Curtis, Douglas and Kevin Owen all of La Crosse, four grandchildren, Claudia (Charlie) Beck, Anna (Jordan) Loehr, William and Samuel Busse; three great grandchildren Arthur, Owen and Elliot; one sister Ruth and two brothers Jack and Kenneth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers William, Leonard, George, Jim and Andrew and one sister Mary.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church; 2720 South 26th Street, La Crosse. Pastor Robert Wassermann will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Chaseburg. Friends may call on the family Tuesday evening from 5 until 7pm at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel; 200 West Ave. South. Visitation will also be held at the church on Wednesday from 10am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used in Oliver’s memory.
