LaVerne F. Lehmann, 67 was born to Julius and Marcella (Meyers) Lehmann on December 9, 1947 died suddenly at his home in La Crescent, MN on Friday, May 29, 2015.
LaVerne married Judy Holberg on December 11, 1971 in La Crosse. Together they had four children, Tami, Tanya, T.J. and Troy. He was very proud of serving our country in the US Army. LaVerne graduated with a communications degree and spent 42 years working at Ace Communications in La Crescent and recently retired in 2013. He was a very active member of the American Legion Post 595 and was proud to be named Commander in 2002-2003. He was a devout Catholic and was an active church member of Church of the Crucifixion. When he wasn’t putting on a steak fry at the American Legion, he loved hunting and camping with his family and friends.
LaVerne was known and loved for many things: his huge generous smile, his humor, wonderful bear hugs and never ending joy. He loved life and was one of the happiest people anyone will ever know. He always looked for the good in everyone. He had unending support and love for his wife, children and grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren in all of their activities and stood with great pride in the stands and cheered them on. He was everyone’s “go-to” guy. He would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it at any time. There was no better father or grandfather out there and he will be loved and missed forever. As his son left his legacy of love, so did he. We know he whistled his way through the pearly gates of heaven on Friday, and now we have another angel looking out for all of us.
In addition to Judy, his wife of 43 years, he is survived by daughters Tami (Dave) Clark and Tanya (Greg) Skemp both of Onalaska; a son Troy (Renee) Lehmann of Gaylord, MN. Grandchildren: Hunter and Parker Clark, Michael and Anna Skemp and Maxx and Ethan Lehmann. Siblings: Sharon (Clifford) Johnson of La Crosse, Dorothy (Bill) Hoskins of Houston, MN, Kathleen (Harry) Troyanek of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, David (Sandy) Lehmann of Hokah, MN, Jeanne (John) Wiatt of La Crosse, Bill Lehmann of Viroqua, WI, Marvin (Kari) Lehmann of West Salem, WI, Theresa (Jeff) Merrill of La Crescent and Yvonne (Bill) Dietz of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son T.J. (Todd) on January 10, 1986; In-laws Arnie and Evelyn Holberg and Jeff Holberg.
