Rolland D Pataska

Rolland “Rollie” Duane Pataska Sr., 74, of Midway, WI passed away at his home on Friday, May 15, 2015. Rollie was born to Donald and Charlotte (Runner) Pataska on June 5, 1940 in La Crosse and was raised by Donald and Naomi Pataska. Rollie married Sharon Lee Dayton in Decorah, Iowa on December 3, 1960.
Rollie was a great husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Rollie enjoyed his collection of antiques and his favorite past-time was going to garage sales with his brother, John, and looking for his next treasure. Rollie and Sharon enjoyed spending their weekends setting up and selling antiques at area festival antique shows.
Rollie spent most of his working years with the City of La Crosse water department as an water plant operator. Also, he was very active with union S.E.I.U. Local 180 and held various positions with the union. He lived his life to the fullest and loved his family very much. Rollie was an amazing husband who loved his wife and best friend for 54 years. He loved her cooking and always enjoyed a good game of scrabble or gin with her.
Rollie is survived by his wife, Sharon and their six children: Terry (Dan) Schleifer, Rolland Pataska Jr., Laurie Pataska, Vicky (John) Goubeaux of North Carolina, Cheryl Pataska and Steven Pataska (Brooke Privet). Three brothers: John (Donna), Jim, Dick (Kit). Three sisters: Dawn Christianson, Penny (Rick) Ambuehl and Kay Prestwood. Seven grandchildren: Zachary, Jessica, Summer, Madelin, Alex, Aaron and Harrison and by three great-grandchildren: Mercedes, Carley and Mya.
Rollie was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Naomi Pataska and his brother-in-law, Jerry Prestwood.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 22, 2015 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse (200 West Ave. So.) with Rev. Scott Skogen officiating. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
