Alan H. Christman, 69, of La Crescent, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on September 7, 1945 in Ladysmith, WI to Willard and Nanna (Magnus) Christman and grew up on the family farm in Tony, WI. After attending Flambeau High School and Medford Teachers College he served our country in the U.S. Army. He was employed by G. Heileman/City Brewery for 48 years. He loved his family, friends and coworkers, the Green Bay Packers, NASCAR, fishing, boating and spending time at Lake Mille Lacs. Al was loved by everyone he met. The world lost a bit of joy with his passing.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Sandra (Schaffer), his children, grandchildren and four-legged grandpuppies Shelly (Laurie, Max, Sheila, Lily, Cosmo, Lambeau, Ruby), Paula (Damon, Monty, Chilynn, Tanner, Zari), Steve, Barry (Melissa, Beckham, Coco), a brother Phil (Sharon), a sister Shirley (Jim) Koepke and their families, along with many, many close friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law Roy Schaffer.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 5-8 PM at the Schumacher- Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 111 S. Oak St., La Crescent.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Oncology Department at Gundersen Health System, especially Dr. David Marinier and also the staff at Gundersen Hospice.
