Willard “Bill” O. Aspeslet, 81, of Jordan, MN and formerly of La Crosse/West Salem, passed away on May 2, 2015 at Oak Terrace Memory Care Center in Jordan. In his final years, he battled Alzheimer’s disease. He was born May 16, 1933 to Alfred and Edna (Farnam) Aspeslet in the Town of Holland, La Crosse County. He graduated from Holmen High School, class of 1952.
He married Janice Larson in Sept. 1955 at Mt. Calvary Church in La Crosse, WI. The couple resided in La Crosse and raised their family there. Bill worked as a route salesman for Frito-Lay for 37 years. In retirement, Bill and Janice enjoyed spending their time as snow-birds at the Tropic Starr Resort in Pharr, TX and their summers at Lake Neshonoc Campground in West Salem, WI. Bill worked part time at both the Tropic Starr and Lake Neshonoc Campground during his retirement and made many friends.
Bill is survived by his children; Jon (Teresa) Aspeslet of Marshfield, WI. , Jill (Paul) Hofslien of Shakopee, MN., Jayme Aspeslet of La Crosse, Julie (Michael) Aspeslet-Pozar of Kissimmee, FL., and Jason (Jessica) Aspeslet of Knoxville, TN.
Bill’s grandchildren were a joyful blessing to him. He leaves behind, Rachael (Stephen) Reynolds, Kelly and Michelle Aspeslet, Nicole, Megan, and Connor Hofslien, MaKayla Aspeslet, LaVon Pozar, and Grayson Aspeslet. Bill is further survived by a brother, Tilman Aspeslet of Stoddard, WI, and a sister, Marion Olson of Rockland, WI., and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janice in 2002, and his brothers, Norman and Clifton Aspeslet, and a sister, Lila Anderson. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister in-laws; Harold Olson, Jim and Mary Larson, Richard Anderson, Alice Aspeslet, Lois Aspeslet and Elmer Kotek.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Mt. Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church. Pastor Robert Wassermann will officiate. Burial will be in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be donated in Bill’s memory for Alzheimer’s research.
