Marion Olson Fredsall

Marion Olson Fredsall, 97 of La Crosse, died on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Benedictine Living Community of La Crosse. She was born October 17, 1917 in La Crosse to Martin and Mathilda (Haupt) Olson who owned a large farm in Mound Prairie, Minnesota. Marion was married to William Bromiley from 1945 until 1950. In 1956, she married Russell Fredsall, who preceded her in death in 1982.
Marion graduated from the Wisconsin Business University in La Crosse. She was among the first women in La Crosse to join the military after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served in the Women’s Army Corps during WWII for three years. She was in the European Theater (London and Paris) for 17 months. Marion co-owned Hydro-Chem Ltd. In La Crosse and ran the chemical company with her husband. She was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Meals on Wheels, Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52; Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530 in La Crosse and served as adjutant for the Wisconsin VFW District 11 from 1992-1998.
Marion is survived by her sons; Jack Bromiley of La Crosse; her daughter, Diane (Daymond) La Marr of Richmond, VA; three grandchildren, Lesley La Marr Diaz, DJ La Marr and Jon La Marr; as well as seven nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, May 1st at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse with Rev. Harald Bringsjord officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Church Cemetery, rural Houston, MN. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of services.
