Virginia "Ginnie" Hill

Virginia “Ginnie” Ann Hill, 54, of La Crescent, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015.

Ginnie was born in Little Falls, Minn., on July 28, 1960. She worked as a medical transcriptionist for many years and moved to La Crescent from Colorado two years ago to be closer to family once her cancer was discovered.

Ginnie became a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crescent. She loved children and taught Sunday school and enjoyed helping out at the Little Lambs Preschool at the church. She was currently taking classes at WTC in order to obtain her early childhood teaching certificate. Ginnie will also be affectionately remembered for her love of the color purple.

Ginnie is survived by her mother, Betty Billing, of La Crescent; her brother, Michael Billing and his wife, Amanda, and their children, Jonathan, Aaron, Isaiah, Victoria and Liberty, all of La Crescent; aunts and uncles, Wayne and Phyllis Pugh of Bloomington, Minn., Robert Pugh of Cushing, Minn., Lyle and Shirley Pugh of Little Falls, Minn., Larry and Joann Pugh of Randall, Minn., Sandy and Tom Weber of St. Cloud, Minn., Shirley and Richard Japp of Cushing, Minn., Mary Ann Pugh of Little Falls, and Joseph James of Little Falls; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Chester Billing; aunts and uncles, Jerry Pugh, Jeanette James and Sharon Pugh; and maternal grandparents, John and Violet Pugh.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 21st, at First Ev. Lutheran Church, 414 Main St., La Crescent. Pastor Chris Christensen will officiate. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in La Crescent. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the church.
