Michael John Wing

Michael J. Wing, 63 of La Crosse died on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at his home. He was born July 2, 1951 in La Crosse to Robert and Irene (Soller) Wing. Mike graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1969 and enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. He proudly served his country in the Navy for over 23 years until his discharge. He returned to La Crosse where he worked for Gundersen Health System for 19 years retiring in 2012.
On October 15, 1997 he married Elizabeth Oyer in La Crosse. Mike loved fishing and sports and was a huge Packers and Badgers fan. He enjoyed model railroading and playing cribbage with his dad, Notre Dame Football, as well as the Army/Navy football game “Rob”.
In addition to his wife, Elizabeth he is survived by his mother, Irene Wing of Onalaska; his children, Jennifer (Josh) Lewis of La Crosse, Michael Wing, Jr and Timothy (Drea) Wing both of Tennessee, Lisa (Troy) Jarrett of Westby and Crystal (Kenneth) McClung of Louisiana; 15 grandchildren, Brianna, Abby, Lily, Natalie, Dayton, Patrick, Anthony, Marshal, Tyler, Hunter, Triston, Kyle, Joshua, Nicholas and Angeli; a great-grandson, Eli; two sisters, Kay (Tom) Banasik of Onalaska and Sandy (Greg) Thompson of Rochester, MN; two brothers, John (Karen) Wing of South Carolina and Robert (Elizabeth) Wing of Lakeview, OR.; 11 nieces and nephews; 12 great-nieces and nephews and his dog, Bella. He was preceded in death by his father; two sisters, Patricia Thorne and Janet Wing and his dog, Ginger.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 24th at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse with Deacon Bob Zietlow officiating. Military honors will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of services.
