Robert C. “Bob” Olson, 81 of La Crosse passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Hillview Healthcare Center. He was born in La Crosse on May 13, 1933 to Russell and Iola (Hodous) Olson and graduated from Logan High School. Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he was stationed in Japan. In 1955 he returned to La Crosse and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
In January of 1971 he married Lois Abbs at St. Luke’s Methodist Church in La Crosse. Bob worked for the City of La Crosse as a property appraiser, retiring in 1995. He loved to play golf and cards, especially cribbage. Occasionally he visited local casinos and loved to travel to Las Vegas, his last trip in 2013 for his 80th birthday.
Bob was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in La Crosse, as well as the Masonic Lodge in La Crosse.
In addition to his wife Lois, he is survived by two children; Tracy (Todd) Molzahn of Lakemoor, IL and Steve Olson of Burlington, WI; grandchildren, Jacob (Ashley) Molzahn of Bethesda, MD, Lukas and Zackary Molzahn both of Lakemoor, IL; his nephew Jason Olson of Tustin, CA, and several cousins and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Russell “Tom” Olson.
Friends and Family may call at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4141 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse on Wednesday April 15th from 2:00-4:00 P.M. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Harald Bringsjord officiating. An entombment with military honors will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse on Thursday April 16th at 11:00 A.M. Memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
