Jacqueline L. Hanson

Jacqueline L. “Jackie” Hanson, 79, of Onalaska, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. She was born on May 5, 1935 in Saratoga, WY to John and Helen (Clark) Paulson. Jackie was raised in several different towns in Colorado and later moved to Minnesota. She moved to Wisconsin and lived in La Crosse and Onalaska. While in Colorado she married Malon “Mike” Earley and they had three children. They later divorced. She later married Darwin “Dub” Hanson and he preceded her in death in 2009.
Jackie sold Avon products in her younger days. After moving to La Crosse she shared her passion for cooking with the Onalaska School District, La Crosse County Jail, UW-L, and Salzer Square. Jackie’s hobbies included sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She had a love for her flowers in her yard. Some of her greatest pleasures were feeding and spending time with family and friends. In her last few years she was still sharing cooking ideas with the staff at the Onalaska Care Center. She had a heart of gold. Jackie was a member of First Lutheran Church in Onalaska and the Onalaska American Legion Post 336 Auxiliary.
She is survived by three children, Kathy (Loren) Anderson of La Crosse, Mike Earley of La Crosse, and Don (Dorie) Earley of Coon Valley, five grandchildren, Alex Anderson, Zach (Kat) Anderson, Rob Henderson, Steve Henderson and friend Leah Turner, and Max Earley, two great-grandchildren, Rose and Charles Anderson, a sister Janice (Roger) Howard of Laramie, WY, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darwin “Dub” Hanson, and a brother John Paulson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of Onalaska. Pastor Jason Stanton will officiate. Burial will be in the Onalaska City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and again on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church in Onalaska, Gundersen Medical Foundation, or the donor’s choice.
