Leo Francis Bina

Leo Francis Bina, was received into heaven on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Benedictine Manor of La Crosse.

Leo was born on June 23, 1925, in rural La Crosse County to Joseph and Clara (Gilles) Bina and lived at St. Joseph’s Ridge and Middle Ridge. Leo served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952, and was a long-time member of Anderson-Good American Legion Post 40 of Bangor. On November 12, 1953, Leo married Carol J. Cilley. Carol and Leo had a dairy farm at Middle Ridge for 25 years and were very active members of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Leo is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 61 years; special family, Carl Kirschner of Desoto, Jim and Barb Kirschner of Chetek, Steve and Bev Kirschner of Hixton, Don and Colleen Kirschner of Black River Falls, Jayne and Larry Olson of Viroqua, and Ruth and Harland Viner of Holmen. He is also survived by brothers, Tom (Mary) Bina, Jim Bina, and Joe (Mary) Bina; sister, Margaret Bahr; sister-in-law, Delia Bina; and numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clara Bina; brother, Bernie Bina; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Bina; brother-in-law, George Bahr.

Leo was a kind and thoughtful man and will be greatly missed by many. May he rest in peace.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 1st, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1333 South 13th St., La Crosse. Rev. Rick Roberts and Msgr. Robert Hundt will concelebrate. Burial, with military honors, will take place in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Middle Ridge. Family and friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. So., La Crosse, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m., and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church.
