Dorothy M. Lawrence

Dorothy M. Lawrence, 93 of La Crosse passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Clare Bridge of La Crosse. Dorothy was born in the Town of Portland near Cashton, in rural Monroe County, on November 14, 1921 to Nicholas and Frances (Von Ruden) Marx. On August 17, 1966 she married James R. Lawrence at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in La Crosse. She spent her working years in La Crosse at Modern Laundry and The Trane Company Corporate Dining Room before her retirement.
Dorothy is survived by a sister, Ethel Bushek of Canon Falls, MN and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Marx of West Salem, WI and Dorie Lawrence of Minneapolis, MN; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years; her parents; sisters, Alice and her husband Joseph Brettingen, Luella Marx, Virginia and her husband Leroy Gerke, and her brother Eugene Marx.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 25th at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in La Crosse with Rev. Brian D. Konopa officiating. Entombment will follow in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum in the La Crosse Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Wednesday at the church.
Special thanks to the staff of Clare Bridge of La Crosse for the wonderful care they have provided Dorothy while she was there. Dorothy always considered Clare Bridge “Her Home.” Thanks to Gundersen Health System Hospice and Palliative Care staff for their help with Dorothy’s comfort during her final days.
