Marvin Paul Dobrunz

Marvin Paul Dobrunz, 86, of La Crosse, died on Wednesday, March 04, 2015 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. He was born on April 7, 1928 in La Crosse, the oldest of nine children to Otto and Esther (Zenke) Dobrunz. Marvin was a US Army veteran of WWII and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal. He married Marlene Marx on June 15, 1951 and she preceded him in death in 2004. Marvin had worked as a home builder for 30 years. He was a member of the Concordia Aid Society and served as an officer, President and dance manager of the Concordia. He was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Nodine, and was a lifelong Packer fan.
He is survived by four children, Greg (Judy) Dobrunz, Debra Dobrunz, Diane (Donald) Frampton, and Doris Lubinski, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Carol (Carlton) Papenfuss, Shirley Nagle, and Betty Ann (Ron) Straight, two brothers, Ray (Maryann) Dobrunz and Steven (Lynn) Dobrunz, and many other family and friends. In addition to his wife Marlene he was preceded in death by a sister Lorraine Hill, two brothers, Gordon and Dennis, a brother-in-law Ervin Hill, and a sister-in-law Beverly Dobrunz.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Nodine. Pastor Dennis Harbach will officiate. Burial will be in the Hiler Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crescent on Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
