Steven James Cleary

May 11, 1955 — February 24, 2015

Steven James Cleary, 59, of La Crosse, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. He was born on May 11, 1955 in La Crosse to Kenneth and Shirley (Anderson) Cleary.
Steve considered himself a La Crosse "lifer" and loved living here. As a Wisconsin native, he was also an avid Packer Fan and rarely missed a game. He always cherished his time riding Harleys with friends, and their many trips to the Sturgis Rallies. He owned and operated an auto repair shop for many years and was considered an excellent auto mechanic by his clients. Steve loved to play the guitar and collected an assortment of them over the years. He would jam alone, or with friends, whenever he got an opportunity. Steve was also an accomplished pool shot and loved the competition of the game. One of his greatest joys though was spending time on "Spacebook" with his many friends, and sharing his music-links and daily "Ponderisims". Steve is one of those people who will be truly missed!
Steve is survived by his mother, Shirley Cleary; sisters: Kathy (Britt) Cleary-Klingenberg, Patti (Edward) Cleary-Tuton, and his nephew, Erik Klingenberg. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Cleary.
Steve will be cremated in accordance with his wishes, and an informal gathering will be held on Saturday March 7, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, located at 200 West Avenue So. in La Crosse. All family and friends are invited to come and share their memories of Steve's life.
In addition, a “Celebration of Steve’s Life” will be held this summer to accommodate friends and family unable to make Saturday’s service. The date of the celebration will be announced later.
