Lorraine E. Brieske

July 30, 1924 — February 18, 2015

Lorraine E. Brieske, 90, of La Crosse, died on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. She was born on July 30, 1924 in La Crosse to Lyle and Lillian (Stuckenschmidt) Secord. She married Joseph S. Brieske on December 27, 1941. Lorraine had worked at UW-La Crosse for many years. She enjoyed meeting with her friends at McDonald’s. Lorraine and Joseph were founding members of St. Thomas More Parish. They also enjoyed going to auctions.
She is survived by a son Gary (Pat) Brieske of Kenosha, a daughter Jo Ann La Fleur of Onalaska, seven grandchildren, Wayne Brieske and Helen Smith of Kenosha, Sherry Fry and Deborah (Trevor) Moore of England, Michael (Dana) La Fleur of West Salem, and Mark (Trisha) La Fleur and Terri Jo Stendalen of Holmen, twelve great-grandchildren, Harley, Gemma, Luke, Brenna, Monty, Mitchell, Olivia, Nicholas, Isaac, Amelia, Taylor Jo, and Alexis, three sisters, Lila Quall, Lois (Stanley) Hesselberg, and Alice Homstad, a sister-in-law Trudy Brieske, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2008, a grandson Kevin in 1993, a son-in-law Terry Brieske in 2014, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald (Betty) Secord, Robert (Marie) Secord, Delmer (Mary) Secord, Raymond Secord, August (Margaret) Brieske, John Brieske, William Homstad, and Anne Brieske.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Rev. Brian D. Konopa will officiate. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of services. Memorials may be given to Mary, Mother of the Church Parish.
The family would like to thank the staff at Benedictine Manor and Mayo Health Care Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Lorraine.
