Frank Monsoor, 82, of Onalaska passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.
He was born May 31, 1932 in La Crosse, WI, to John and Nellie (Huzzar) Monsoor, the youngest of six children.
Frank had a happy and fulfilling childhood, growing up with a close-knit, loving family and sharing activity in the neighborhood grocery store where he developed a good work ethic that he used throughout his life. Frank was a graduate of La Crosse Logan High School, class of 1950.
He was at his best being self employed, owning and operating several small businesses until his retirement. He loved woodworking, model airplanes, cooking, spending time on the computer, and playing cards.
Frank accepted the Lord as his Savior in the latter part of his life and began to trust Him in every aspect. His greatest treasure, aside from his wife and children, were his church families from Bethany and First Free Evangelical. They played an important part in his life, through which many of the Lord’s blessings flowed.
He is survived by “the love of his life”; his wife, Marcene (Versteeg) Monsoor; two daughters, Laura, Anne Sanders (Terry); one son, Nick (Marilyn) Monsoor; four grandsons Isaiah, Abram, Michael and Matthew; one sister, Elaine; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and four brothers, Sam, George, Tom, Michael and a grandson Isaac.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at First Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Sam Gallegos will officiate. Friends may call on the family Wednesday evening from 4 until 6 pm at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services Onalaska chapel; 907 Sand Lake Rd. Visitation will also be held on Thursday at the church from 10am until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Salvation Army of La Crosse.
