Helen K. Buehler, 93 of La Crosse went to be with God and her husband on Thursday, February 5, 2015. She was born September 27, 1921 in Tomah, WI to Louis and Lesley (Jones) Barnes. She graduated from Tomah High School and then college in Beloit, WI. On May 31, 1952 she married Ralph Buehler in Tomah and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2010.
Helen had served as a program services member with the Girl Scouts of America and on the Harmony House advisory committee. She was an active member of the La Crosse Alliance for the mentally ill and was active in the Women’s Fellowship at First Congregational Church in La Crosse, including acting as guild chairperson, volunteering for church lunches and rummage sales. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. Helen will be missed by her only daughter and her family.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Buehler of La Crosse; a brother, Louis “Jim” (Beverley) Barnes, Jr. of Clarkville, AZ; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Julia and Arnold Bradburd of Philadelphia, PA along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Ralph, she was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 11th at First Congregational Church, 2503 Main Street, La Crosse. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Congregational Church or the Alliance for the Mentally Ill (AMI).
