Jaeden Lorraine Searle, age 7, our sweet little princess, went up into the clouds while asleep at home on Friday, January 30, 2015. She was born in La Crosse on December 19, 2007 to Brian Searle and Tina Karaffa. Jaeden had attended Little Angels Daycare since she was three months old until she began Kindergarten. They took wonderful care of her. It was during this time we found out she was going to be a picky eater. When Jaeden wouldn’t eat, they would always give her more milk. Every year on her birthday she would receive a Kwik Trip birthday card so she could get a cookie and the brown milk she loved so much. In pre-K, Jaeden had a wonderful teacher Mrs. Ward. In Kindergarten she also had a great teacher Mrs. Ofte. Finally, in first grade where she was a student at Summit Elementary, she had an awesome teacher Mrs. Jen Woppler. She loved school so much that she never missed a day in her little life and was never sick aside from the common head sniffles. Since the age of two she looked forward to going to Jellystone campground in Warrens, WI, every year with her sweet cousin Sammy who is three days younger than Jaeden. She couldn’t wait until she could read, once she learned how she never stopped. She would read every day with her dad. Even while driving in the truck she would read road signs along the way. She loved to go to her uncle Rob’s house and play with his daughter Maryn and all the toys they had. Anywhere she went, she wanted a stuffed animal more than anything. She had hundreds of them. She loved drawing and anything crafty, even though she might get frustrated when she couldn’t figure it out the first time. She loved the wooden swing set she got from her special friend Trish and to make it different from any other swing set mom painted it all different colors. Two days before her passing, she was on it playing “pirates”. When she was in Kindergarten, her dad began picking her up from school on his motorcycle. She thought that was the best even though they got caught in the rain one day. She loved her neighbor Matt and his dog Cheddar. Whenever they came outside, she would run over to visit.
Jaeden was a member of the Children’s Museum and loved going there. She loved to sing and could memorize the lyrics to a song in no time at all. She was a daisy in Girl Scouts and loved the people and time she spent there as well. Thanks to Sue, Jana and Chris for making her feel so welcome. While taking private swimming lessons at the YMCA, her new friend Ally Weber tried hard to make Jaeden not so afraid to put her head under water.
She loved to go to her cousin Dakota and new friends Shawn and Berlin’s House and always cried when she had to leave. In December she couldn’t wait for “Elf on a shelf” to show up. She named him “Snowball” and would always say “sorry” to him when she was naughty. She loved the Oktoberfest parade and her friend Russ always had a seat for her on the curb. For the Torchlight parade her friend Shelly always made sure she was up front to get candy. She couldn’t wait to march in a parade someday.
Jaeden loved her movie collection which included her favorites, Tom and Jerry, Spongebob and Scooby Doo. She could never go to sleep without the T.V. on. She loved her animals; two dogs “Carly” and “Lindy”, “Boogie” the guinea pig, “Slither” the snake and two cats “Percy” and “Hobo”. “Carly” and “Percy” went up into the clouds and she always wanted them to come back. Now our baby is up there playing with all the animals.
Jaeden is survived by her Father Brian and mother Tina of La Crosse, two big sisters Candy and Courtney, grandpa Don Karaffa, “grandma in the country”, Freda Searle, “grandma and grandpa in the city”, Marybeth and Harlan Witt, uncle Rob Karaffa and his daughters Ashley and Maryn Karaffa and Ashley’s daughter Dakota. She is further survived by special friend Katrina Mitchell, aunt Susan (Rob), cousin Sammy, “Crazy Aunt Cindy”, aunt Barb and cousin Keven; aunt Kathy and “Silly Uncle Terry”; special gift giving friends Gene and Ginny Olsen. She was preceded in death by the grandma she was named after Janice Lorraine Gates and “Big Hearted Grandpa” Lorin Searle.
Special thanks to Little Angels and Summit School for molding our sweet, big hearted, little girl into the great little person she became.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 4 until 7 P.M. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel; 200 West Ave. South. Private family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used in Jaeden’s memory.
