Donald J. Stelloh, 86, of Onalaska, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born in La Crosse on December 11, 1928, to John and Violet (McClintock) Stelloh and grew up on the family farm in Barre Mills where he worked until a young adult. He married the former Virginia “Ginger” Clements on June 7, 1949, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on St. Joseph Ridge. After they moved to Onalaska, Don began working at Outers Laboratories where he worked for over 35 years until his retirement in 1992.
In his free time, Don enjoyed fishing and spending time outside tending to his lawn, which he was very proud of. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Don is survived by his wife, Ginger; his two children and their families, son, Steve Stelloh of La Crosse and his daughter, Jessica Stelloh (Beau Becker) and their daughter, London, all of Las Vegas; and daughter, Kari (Richard “Rick”) Conway of Onalaska, and their two sons, Donald (Sara) Conway and their children, Kayden and MacKenzie, all of Onalaska, and Robert “R.J.” Conway (Jordan Rice) of Onalaska. He is also survived by two sisters, LaVonne Garbers of West Salem, and Carol (Russell) Bringe of Holmen; sisters and brothers-in-law, Don Kaiser of West Salem, Rose Potaracke and Carol Breidel, both of La Crosse, Frank (Elaine) Clements of Barre Mills, Elaine (Mal) MacMartin of Burbank, Cal., and David (Mary) Clements of Siren, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Alois and Alice Clements; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Fred “Fritz” Garbers, Marie Kaiser, Rick Breidel, and Don Potaracke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 29 th , at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1031 Main St., Onalaska. Msgr. Steven Kachel will officiate. Burial will follow in the Onalaska City Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 907 Sand Lake Rd., Onalaska, where a prayer service will begin at 5:00 p.m., and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
