Lorraine Maxine Masterson of La Crescent Minnesota died peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 17, 2015 surrounded by her family.
Lorraine was born on November 17, 1927 to Julius and Goldine Kruger in Chicago Illinois. She married Daniel Masterson, also of Chicago, Illinois, in September of 1946. Lorraine spent many years as a military wife and lived in San Francisco, Texas, Washington, Oregon and Germany. After her husband retired from the Army, they settled in California but later moved to La Crescent in 1980.
After her husband’s death in 1980, Lorraine continued raising her children on her own and was involved in many activities and made many trips to California and Georgia to visit her daughters and their families. Later in life, as her children were raised and married with their own families, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She remained very active and enjoyed taking her dog for walks. She was a very happy and fun-loving woman and beloved by everyone who met her. She was very outgoing and loved meeting new people. She was always there to be a help to not only her family, but also her friends. She was a fan of practical jokes and always included humor in her conversations with others. Lorraine was a person of great faith. A particular favorite activity throughout her life was to travel with either family or friends. She loved sightseeing and also making the occasional trip to the casinos.
Lorraine is survived by her six children; Charlene (Jim) Gile, Sharon (Eric) Kruckow and Duane (Chris) Masterson, all of La Crescent Minnesota, Daniel Masterson Jr. of Elk River Minnesota, Betty (Paul) Fernandes of Rocklin CA, Sheryl (Scott) Wiltsey of Kennesaw, Georgia and her grandchildren; Shelly Elsen , Jason Gile, Becky LeFebvre, Tara Mumm, Danny , Justin and Jeffrey Kirk, Jimmy and Travis Kruckow, Bryan, Shane and Kaylee Wiltsey, Jakob, Ryan and Nathan Masterson. And by her great grandchildren; Natalie and Jameson Elsen, Brett, Grant and Owen LeFebvre, Evan and Charlee Gile, Leo and Jaelynn Kirk, and two more on the way. She is also survived by her sister Beatrice Jansky and Betty Singleton. Not to leave out her special pal, her dog Wrigley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Carl, sisters Margaret and Hattie, and her grandson Ronnie Gile.
Family and friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crescent on Wednesday, January 21st from 1:00 – 3:00 PM. Private family services will follow with Pastor Mike Woods officiating. Burial will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be given to La Crescent Animal Shelter or Winona Hospice.
