Le Roy Kenneth “Sam” Kile, 89, of La Crosse, died on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Hillview Health Care Center. He was born on October 22, 1925 in La Crosse to Herbert and Anna (Bishof) Kile. He married Marjorie Mudge on August 17, 1963 in Waukon, IA. Sam was a WWII Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater with the Seabees. Sam served in the battles of Saipan, Tarawa and Okinawa with the Naval Construction Battle Battalion 130. After his military career he returned to La Crosse where he worked at Allis Chalmers until its closing. He then worked for the City of La Crosse Street Department for many years. Sam enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and trapping.
He is survived by two sons, David (Heidi) of Menomonie, WI and Paul (Laura) of Edina, MN, five grandchildren, Christopher, Megan, Maxwell, Marcella and Jacqueline. He is also survived by two sons from a previous marriage, Kenneth and Thomas. He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, a son Eric, and three siblings, Herbert, Orville and Dorothea.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse.
