Vivian Johnson, 80 of La Crescent, MN died on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at home, surrounded by family. She was born April 5, 1934 to Roger and Charlotte (Hoyer) Knutson. On May 20, 1957 she married Ken Johnson and he preceded her in death on November 24, 1989.
Vivian was a waitress for 60 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 595 in La Crescent. Vivian devoted her life to her family and nothing held greater importance to her.
In addition to her husband Ken, she was preceded in death by a sister Betty Jolivette. Vivian is survived by her children; Roberta Kilmer and Theresa (Bill) Kistler both of La Crescent, Mary (Jack) Van Cor of Wabasha, MN, David Johnson of La Crescent and Sandy (Gerry) Walter of Elkhorn, WI; grandchildren, Rick, Gwen, Jeremy, Jocylyn (Dan), Nicole, Kylee, Billy and Keenan; great-grandchildren, Nola, Halia, Treyton and Daniel; sisters, Lois Fruechte of La Crosse and Janice (Roy) Rechkemmer of The Villages, FL; brothers, Ray (Judy) Knutson of Bangor, WI, Roger (Judy) Knutson of La Crosse, Ron (Nancy) Knutson of Coon Rapids, MN and Bob (Linda) Knutson of Onalaska, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 23rd at the Church of the Crucifixion in La Crescent with Rev. Gregory Havel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends and family may call on Monday at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 111 South Oak Street, La Crescent from 4-7 P.M., where a prayer service will be held at 4:00 P.M.; and again on Tuesday at the church from 10:30 A.M. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Gundersen Health System Hospice Program.
