Harriet A. Tanke went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 11, 2014.
She was born Alice Harriet Lundquist on December 21, 1914 in East Lake Lillian Township, Minnesota to John & Elsie (Pearson) Lundquist. She married Vincent Denton December 6, 1932. He preceded her in death in 1945. She married Harold Tanke November 20, 1948. He preceded her in death in 1967.
Harriet was a homemaker and caregiver for many years, taking care of her infirmed mother and raising her two daughters, Ardis and Marcia. She worked briefly at the AutoLite after Vincent’s death in 1945, and prior to marrying Harold in 1948.
She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse where she enjoyed participating in Ladies Aid and the Quilting Club. She was a gifted seamstress who enjoyed making clothes for herself, her daughters, and her grandchildren. Harriet also enjoyed bowling with the “Gutter Dusters” in the women’s bowling league at South Lanes.
She is survived by her daughter Ardis Marcotte of Buffalo, NY, fourteen grandchildren; James (Robbie) Marcotte, Michael (Denise) Marcotte, David (Kady) Marcotte, Mary Marcotte, Anne March, Carrie Marcotte, Jane (Cristina) Marcotte, Megan (Liang Cai) Marcotte, Steven (Teri) Powell, Julie (Erling) LaReau, Teresa (Brian Miller) Powell, Greg (Mary) Powell, John (Laurie) Powell, Sara Powell, twenty one Great-grandchildren; Maria, Michelle, Jeffrey, Jayda, Cory, Tyler, Aaron, Nicole, Jazlyn, Vincent, Katya, Alicia, Anna, Ian, Shayla, Nicholas, Aaron, Trevor, Isaac, Henry, Tracy and seventeen great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Martha Gilberg
one brother Roger Lundquist, a special friend George Moore, a daughter Marcia Powell, a son-in-law William Blaine Powell, two grandsons Anthony Powell and Chris Marcotte, a great-grandson Jayme LaReau and a great-granddaughter Kristine Powell.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Richard Pamperin will officiate. Private burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery will take place at a later date. Friends may call on the family Wednesday morning at the church from 10am until the time of services. Memorials may be directed to First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
