Dorothy J. Olson

Dorothy J. Olson, 93, of La Crescent, died on Monday, December 1st, 2014 at her home. She was born on October 23, 1921 in Caledonia, MN to Le Roy and Elfreida (Meyer) Wilhelm. Dorothy graduated from Caledonia High School in 1939. She married Norman Olson in 1943 and he preceded her in death. She married Hubert Hunzeker in 1992. Dorothy had worked as an Assistant Vice President at the La Crescent State Bank for many years. She was an active member of the La Crescent United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday school. Dorothy’s family was very important to her and she was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt.
She is survived by her husband Hubert Hunzeker, a daughter Judith Kerska, two grandsons, Eric (Tina) Kerska and Marc (Elizabeth) Kerska, four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Mackenzie, Abigail and Braedon, a sister Ruth Snodgrass, step-children, Mary Hunzeker, Lisa (Henry) Wiens, James (Darla) Hunzeker, Electra Rich, and numerous step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband Norman she was preceded in death by a son Gerald and a brother Paul Wilhelm.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the La Crescent United Methodist Church. Pastor Greg Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Ridge Cemetery, rural Caledonia. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 12:30 PM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the La Crescent United Methodist Church or A.B.L.E.
