Angeline Marie Schiltz

June 20, 1920 — November 27, 2014

Angeline Marie (Lehmann) Schiltz, 94, of La Crosse passed away peacefully at Bethany on Cass Thursday, November 27, 2014. She was born in La Crosse on June 20, 1920 to John and Anna (Tschumper) Lehmann. On October 5, 1943 she married Myrel P. Schiltz and together they farmed in Caledonia, Minnesota until May 1984. After retiring from farming, they moved to La Crosse.

Faith, family and friends were the central focus of Angie’s life, and she had been a member of St. Mary’s Church in Caledonia, MN. After her move to La Crosse, Angie became a member of Mary Mother of the Church, St. Thomas More Parish. She was an excellent homemaker, volunteered at many church functions and was a volunteer at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital prior to her move to Bethany on Cass.

Angie enjoyed spending time and playing cards with her family and friends and made so many new friends while she resided at Bethany on Cass. Angie’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Bethany on Cass who were all so caring and loving to our mother for the past 10 years. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest treasure was her family.

Angie is survived by her children: Darlene (Jim) Verdick of Bettendorf, Iowa, Carol (Ervin) Banse of La Crescent, Minn., Sandy (David) Nelson of La Crosse, Margie (Don) Ferring of Caledonia, Minn., David (Sandy) Schiltz of Winona, Minn., Alan Schiltz of Winona, Minn. and Mark (Karen) Schiltz of Caledonia, Minn.; son-in-law, Tom Hammes of Barre Mills, Wisc., daughter-in-law Donna Schiltz of Whitewater, Wisc.; 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, sisters Vi Kohlmeyer of La Crosse and Florence Frank of LaCrescent, Minn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Myrel; daughter Donna Hammes; son, Ronald Schiltz; granddaughter, Rachel Nelson; sisters, Hilda Limberg and Leona Lehmann and brothers Ed and Julius Lehmann.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 5th at Mary Mother of the Church, St. Thomas More Parish, La Crosse. The Rev. Brian D. Konopa will officiate. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Mausoleum at the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call on the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 4th at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, La Crosse Chapel, 200 West Ave. S. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
