Lorraine May Miller

Lorraine May (Bernd) Miller, 87 of rural Hokah, MN, passed away peacefully at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center on Friday, November 21, 2014. She was born in La Crosse WI, on May 4, 1927 to Edward C. and Freda C. (Thompson) Bernd. Lorraine had graduated from Logan High School in 1945 at the top of her class. On August 29, `1950 she married Arthur J. Miller and together they farmed in Hokah for many years. Lorraine contracted polio in 1952 and still was able to raise her children and remain an active partner in their daily farm life.
In addition to her husband Arthur, she is survived by her four children; Linda Stemper of Hokah, Ellen (Fred) Pilger of Winona,Mn, Gordon Miller of Winona, Adrian “Sam” Miller of Hokah, six grandchildren, Missy (Shawn) Andring, Jessy (Jeff) Berkley, Andy Miller, Amy (Josh) Walters, Emily (Jeremy) Johnson, Grace Stemper, seven great grandchildren; Jena and Jade Johnson, Madeline and Spencer Andring, Valarie and Megan Berkley and Isaac Stemper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son Larry and an infant brother.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hokah. Rev. Pratap Reddy Salibindla will officiate. Private family burial will take place a later date. Friends may call on the family Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 P.M. at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crescent chapel; 111 South Oak St. Visitation will also be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used in Lorraines memory.
