Helen Juan, 88 of La Crosse, died on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Gundersen Health System. She was born August 27, 1926 at St. Ann’s Hospital in La Crosse to Arthur and Elizabeth (Cummings) Murphy. She was the youngest of four children and was raised on the family farm in Sleepy Hollow near Gays Mills, WI. Upon graduating from Edgewood High School in Madison, Helen returned to La Crosse to be with her parents who had moved there from the farm.
On October 19, 1946 she married Robert Leo Juan in La Crosse and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1983. Helen had worked at the Electric Auto-Lite and La Crosse Footwear for many years.
Helen is survived by her children; Joanie (Kirby) Ellis of Maine, Rita (Kenneth) Rice of La Crosse, Mary (Michael) Aspenson of Colorado, Greg Juan (fiance’, Cindy Folcey) of La Crosse, Kathleen (Billy) Hayman of Bangor, WI, Thomas (Teri) Juan of La Crosse, and Timothy (Connie) Juan of La Crosse; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ellis, John (Deb) Lash, Andrew Notsch, Nicole Juan (special friend, Ian Vaver), Bryana (Lee) Christianson, Kaylene Juan, Robert Juan and Jackie Juan, along with several great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Robert she was preceded in death by an infant son, John, her parents and three sisters, Sister Marie Dorothy Murphy, Anita Quinn and Francis Meicher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 24th at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in La Crosse with Rev. Brian D. Konopa officiating. Entombment will follow in Catholic Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Sunday from 4-6 P.M. at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse where a Prayer Vigil Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. and again on Monday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Cancer Research or Mary, Mother of the Church Parish Building Fund.
