Chun-Ping "Gary" Wang

Chun-Ping “Gary” Wang, 53, of La Crescent, died at his home on Tuesday, November 18, 2014.

He was born in Taiwan, Taipei on January 5, 1961, to Tuz Tuz and Yi Yueh (Ren) Wang. He moved to New York with his father, his sister, Hai Ping, and brother, Wan Ping, in 1976. There, Gary began working as a cook at the age of 15, first at his father’s restaurant, and then at several other restaurants in New York. He married Chiu Hung Lin on September 16, 1987, in New York. They moved to La Crosse in 1989 where Gary worked with his sister, Hai Ping, as the cook at Hunan Restaurant until April of 2014.

Gary is survived by his wife, Lin Wang; his daughters, Jessica Wang and Corinna Wang, both of Minneapolis; his sister, Hai Ping Wang of La Crosse and her children, Alex Liu of Minneapolis, and Katherine Liu of La Crosse; and his other siblings of Taiwan, Yi Ping Geun, Ku Ping Chang, Wan Ping Wang, and Lu Ping Geun, and their families; and his mother-in-law, Chun Chu Lin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Yang Ming Lin.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 22nd, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 111 South Oak St., La Crescent.
