Adolph Trussoni, Jr., 83 of Genoa, WI died Monday, November 10, 2014 in his home, surrounded by family. He was born April 18, 1931 in La Crosse to Adolph and Wilma (Beyer) Trussoni. He attended Bad Axe Valley Grade School, Lansing Public High School for one year and then graduated from Aquinas High School of La Crosse in 1948. He married Therese Monti on April 26, 1952 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa, where he was a lifetime member. He was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Adolph and Therese farmed with his parents until 1957. When his parents moved to town, Adolph and Therese continued to farm on their own until 1980. In 1968 he began working for the National Farmers Organization. He was a significant leader for the NFO for 28 years, working as the Dairy Regional Director for parts of WI, IA and MN. He was a lifetime member of the NFO, and believed collective bargaining was the key to the survival of the family farm. He continued to farm, with family help, until 1984. He then moved to the village of Genoa, selling the farm to his son Arnold. Adolph was instrumental in building a partnership between NFO and CROPP (Organic Valley). This partnership aided in CROPP’s vast success.
In addition to his wife Therese, he is survived by his fourteen children; Deborah (Norman R.) Crater of La Crosse, William (Rose) Trussoni of Stoddard, Mary (Jerry) Rethwisch of Farmington, MN, Patricia (Frank) Tudahl of La Crosse, Robert (Monica) Trussoni of Marshfield, WI, Jeannette (Tom) Roberts of South Wayne, WI, Arnold (Tama) Trussoni of Genoa, Ronald (Cindy) Trussoni of La Crosse, Dorothy (Duane) Fry of La Crosse, Diane (Donald) Rauch of Woodbury, MN, Donna (Larry) Mikshowsky of Bangor, Susanne Trussoni of Holmen, Kathleen (Greg) Tully of Genoa, Carmela Trussoni of Genoa; 42 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 6 more on the way… all because two people fell in love; sister, Bernadine Colling of La Crosse; brother, Richard (Sandra) Trussoni of La Crosse; brother-in-law, Rev. Robert Monti of Fort Lauderdale, FL, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Jeanne Belke and her husband, Jim; brother-in-law Joseph Colling; mother and father-in-law Angeline and Matthew Monti; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Kathryn and Philip Malin, Mary Jane and Chester Bente.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 14th at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa with Rev. William Dhein, Rev. Robert Monti and Msgr. Delbert Malin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home in La Crosse from 4-8 P.M. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:30 P.M. There will also be visitation at 10:00 A.M. until services begin, at the church in Genoa. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Charles Catholic Church.
