Genevieve M. Overhouse

Genevieve M. Overhouse, 88, of La Crescent, MN passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Clara House in La Crescent. She was born on January 13, 1926 in La Crosse, WI to George and May (Williams) Yeager. She married Alfred Overhouse in 1944 and he preceded her in death on December 10, 1963. Genevieve had worked at La Crosse Rubber Mills. Together she and Al owned and operated Overhouse Sel-Rite grocery store in La Crescent.
She is survived by her children Alfred ‘Butch’ (Karla) Overhouse of Hokah, MN, Stan (Sandra) Overhouse of La Crosse, WI, Gary M. (Rita) Overhouse of La Crescent, MN, Julie (Scott) Severson of Onalaska, WI and Bruce Overhouse of La Crescent, MN, fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren along with a very close niece MaryJo Gimbel of Scotland, S.D. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Steven and Brian, three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Schumacher – Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 111 South Oak St., La Crescent. Rev. Gregory Havel will officiate. Private burial will take place in the Crucifixion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
