Mary Jane Fowler, 97, of La Crosse, died on Monday, October 20, 2014 in her home. She was born on January 14, 1917 in La Crosse to Erhard and Ida Mae (Williams) Stuber. Mary Jane graduated from Aquinas High School in 1934. She married Robert Fowler on September 20, 1941 in Mobile, AL.
She is survived by six children, Frances (Dan) Burke of Alexandria, VA, Kathleen (Craig Sallander) Mydy of La Crosse, Elizabeth “Betsy” Fowler of La Crosse, Susan (Robert) Christopherson of Newburg Corners, James Fowler of La Crescent, and Peggy (Todd) Wiersum of Woodbury, MN, 22 grandchildren, Sara (John) Powell, Jude (Katie) Burke, Rachel (Jack) Marshall, Eve Burke, Paul Burke, Luke (Amanda) Burke, Matt (Salina) Burke, Ed Burke, Steven (Sue Guy) Mydy, David (Nicole) Mydy, Ben (Julie) Fowler, Kelly (Matt) Wagoner, Anna Christopherson, Emily Christopherson, Clare Christopherson, Alec Christopherson, Alvin Christopherson, Efer Christopherson, Corie Christopherson, Valerie (Dean) Willer, Stephanie (Luke) Tornquist, and Leslie (Justen) Lalonde, 28 great-grandchildren, a sister Betty Lynch of Lincoln, NE, and a brother George (Patricia) Stuber of Brownsville, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, an infant son, an infant granddaughter, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert (Helen) Stuber, John (Gayle) Stuber and Donald (Dorothy) Stuber, and a brother-in-law, Lee Lynch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 4:30 PM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rev. Peter Raj will officiate. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Saturday, October 25. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and at the church on Friday from 3:30 PM until the time of services. Memorials may be given to Catholic Charities, Coulee Region Humane Society, or the charity of choice.
