Cody Harrison Strittmater

January 7, 1994 — October 1, 2014

Cody Harrison Strittmater, 20, of Holmen and formerly of La Crosse, died on Wednesday, October 1, 2014.

He was born in La Crosse on January 7, 1994, to Scott and Tracey (McKim) Strittmater. He attended La Crosse schools and was a 2012 graduate of Logan High School. Cody enjoyed drawing, listening to music, and playing the drums. He also loved being outdoors especially while hunting and fishing. He had been employed as a cook at Famous Dave’s.

Cody enjoyed many hours hunting, fishing and trapping with the special people in his life. Hunting camp with his father was always eagerly anticipated and avidly enjoyed by Cody and the family and friends who participated in the annual tradition. Cody beamed with pride when claiming his first buck. Many wonderful hours were spent ice fishing on Lake Onalaska with his Grandma Nana and also his special friend Cam. Family trips to Nebraska throughout his lifetime brought much joy to Cody and those with him. Cody spent many special moments with his sisters and cousins at Grandpa Harry’s house on Sundays and on holidays. His kind and gentle conversations with Grandma Diane were heartwarming to witness and did not go unnoticed. He was a source of strength and support for his mother during difficult times, and had a special role as little brother to his two older sisters. Cody became the big brother to his younger sister and watched over her with a constant brotherly love. Cody never failed to make any of us laugh with his silly smiles for the camera. Many wonderful memories and laughable moments were created over the years with the inseparable trio in Cody, Tony and Bryan going to concerts, Frisbee golfing and just hanging out. Cody formed very special bonds with his Uncle Matt and second cousin Chad. Cody also had special role models in Larry and Bobby, with whom he shared a love of nature. Jamie became a special person of support, guidance and love to Cody and his family during difficult times. He was always sensitive, friendly and kind to his extended family and second and third cousins. Cody will live forever in our hearts through the wonderful memories of his beautiful smile and the time spent with family and loved ones. He is missed and loved by many, but we take comfort in knowing Cody is in the arms of the Lord, resting peacefully.

Cody is survived by his mother, Tracy (Larry) La Fleur of La Crosse; his father, Scott Strittmater (Jamie West) of Holmen; his three sisters, Tori Strittmater, Jordan Strittmater, and Ally Lengel, all of La Crosse; his maternal grandmother, Diana Kraft of Lynch, Neb.; his paternal grandparents, Harry and Diane Strittmater of La Crosse; and a maternal great grandmother, Geraldine Spencer of Lynch, Neb. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Kathy (Dale) Tweten of Onalaska, Sandy Strittmater of Onalaska, Lori (Matt) Jahr of Holmen, and Richard (Pam) McKim of La Crosse; cousins, Sarah (Rob) Rank of La Crosse, Kim Strittmater of La Crosse, Mike, Jeff (Angie), and Bryan Strittmater, all of Onalaska, Ashley and Tony Tweten, both of La Crosse, Carsten, Sydney and Isabella Jahr, all of Holmen, Amanda and Kala Hartley, both of La Crosse, and Lindsey Hartley of Rochester, Minn.; many other extended family members; and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard McKim; and by Robert “Bob” Gilbert, who was like a grandfather to Cody.
